I finally decided to start my own gallery plugin for WordPress 1.5. To keep me motivated, I added this plugin to a contest. Deadline is within 2 months, but I allready got some stuff working. Once it’s done, it’s gonna need some extended testing as well as tuning and making the code a bit more readable.

I got some experience in making galleries, so I doubt it will be any issues there. More afraid of the integration with wordpress since it’s using it’s own Plugin API. Will hopefully learn something out of this project and maybe get some inspiration to do more plugins. I still got some nifty and cool ideas to complete.

Had a pretty big migraneattack about 2 weeks ago, got some medecine for it and got cured. Apparantly not completly. After the worst part had faded, I went back to my normal life. However I had a strange sideeffect ever since. It feels like a strong ache in my left side of the nose and soon after, I get a very acid smell in my mouth. Also had minor headache about each day ever after, so I thought I better get a time at the doctor and today was the day.

I came back to the same doctor I had last time. It’s a female doctor wich is quite good if you ask me. She had a quick look on me and apparantly she couldn’t find anything causing it. She did calm me a bit with words that it shouldn’t have anything to do with my earlier headache. However she offered to send me to a specialist on the subject to get a proper diagnose. They have better tools and more experience of illness concerning the nose. This means I get to wait about 1 to 1.5 months before I get help, but atleast it’s on it’s way..

Sorry to say this, but Plogger isn’t what we all been waiting for. Apparantly it’s only supporting 2 sublevels wich is a really bad thing. It’s really easy to implement an unlimited tree structure in PHP and I am very curious why the developer of Plogger doesn’t do this. Anyway they made an announcement that this won’t happend in the near future and I don’t feel like doing it myself either. Then I can write a whole gallery system instead.

Anyway, decided to move back my plans to Gallery 2 wich is a really nice product, however it’s kinda to powerfull for my needs. It’s community support is great, so I guess this will be most logical choice..

I saw this movie today, to spend some time while my boyfriend was working. It’s not the best movie, acctually it’s among the worser movies I’ve seen. I have to admit it had some nice effects thou, especially with a guy called Tattoo. No need to see this one in the theaters, you could easily wait until it’s out on DVD or maybe even until it’s avaible on a DVD sale.

Juha and I ordered a homecinema system about 2 weeks ago. Apparantly they been all out on the model we choosed (a codefree Pioneer DCS-323), so we thought about canceling the order and get another model. Today we got the confirmation letter that it is on it’s way over here. Lets hope it gets here soon, I got a recent urge to see the LOTR movies again.

UPDATE (2005/04/13): They called today, they are bringing it over tonight after 6.00 PM. Unfortunatly I won’t be home until friday, so my partner will have to test it out himself. Good for me is that it will probably be up and running once I get home, so all I have to do is start watching some movies.

As you can see, the titles has been changed to images instead of text. With a helpful plugin (found here), I can better design how I want the title for each page to look. Had some issues during the activation of it, since I didn’t have Freetype installed on the server. This has now been compiled into PHP and that made everything working flawless.

The future of blogging is around the corner. I just read the forums over at wordpress.org and got a tip about this new gallery software written in PHP. Apparantly they are thinking about making a more “lowlevel” gallery with everything you use and nothing else. Today gallerysoftware such as Gallery and Coppermine are way to bloted with features. This is usually not a bad thing, but a gallery like this would be sufficient for most of us bloggers out there.

I am doing some test on this new invention called Plogger and trying to get used to it. I suppose more than me are interested in developing a plugin to integrate it with wordpress, so we’ll see who’s got the prettiest solution in least amount of time. Since I am not that used to WordPress plugins yet, I guess it will be a bit of a challenge.

As you can see in the topmenu, I am trying to setup a gallery with the same design as this page. This is usually a simple task, but since both these systems are new to me it’s gonna take a little while before everything is running as it should. Feel free to look around, but I am pretty sure it’s full of broken links right now.

I also added a contact form. Found this neat plugin where I just enter a simple command to create a contact form. Works flawless so far, but we’ll see what happends.

Also had the luck to find myself a new theme. This is theme is free and I think the author of it gives his blessing to modifications. This is what I will do, but I do not have the right tools and time right now. I will be running this a while and you can expect the transformation happening in the future.
